We had a truly special night with Tony Nominee and Emmy Award Winner, Liz Callaway, who so generously shared her expertise with us.

Thank you to all of the participants who sang so beautifully (and fearlessly!), and to the lovely, supportive audience of observers, to David Wray for a terrific job on piano and, most especially, to Liz herself.

Tony Nominee and Emmy Award-winning actress/singer LIZ CALLAWAY to give a performance masterclass for Red Alchemy in Dublin later this month.

From the pen of Stephen Sondheim, this surreal show explores the darker side of American history.  "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", the Declaration of Independence promises this for all people. Assassins tells the tale of nine men and women who have missed a crucial element of the promise though - the pursuit of happiness.

Assassins will explode onto The Helix stage on November 12th. Tickets are on sale now from the Helix Box office 01 7007000.

MICHAEL COLLINS

The tapestry of Irish history boasts many an iconic figure weaved into its fabric, their legacies fuelling the stories and memories of our past and present peoples; none more so than Michael Collins. Revered by some, resented by others ‘The Big Fella’ as he was affectionately known, has imprinted his story upon the psyche and culture of our politics and our people since the volatile events of the Irish Civil war and his ultimate assassination in 1922 at Beal na Blath.

Bryan Flynn's acclaimed Michael Collins - A Musical Drama will run in the Watergate Theatre from April 6th.

Michael Hayes, Ciarán Dunphy and Kevina Hayes lead the front line as Michael Collins, Eamonn De Valera and Kitty Kiernan respectively. There has been some commotion in the weeks running into this production as several life-size cutouts of Michael Collins were stolen from the streets of Kilkenny. There has been much speculation about the thieves’ motives, with opinions ranging from ardent supporters collecting memorabilia to political dissidents seeking to cull promotion of the Big Fella. The real reason for the thefts may never be known but it has certainly piqued people’s interests, to the extent that even some news outlets have reported on the story. Following all this excitement, it is no surprise to learn that the show has completely sold out, well in advance of its run.

Last night, Stephens Barracks, Kilkenny set the scene for the incredible launch night for Michael Collins - A Musical Drama, which will be directed by Christine Scarry in April 2014.

Directed by Christine Scarry, ESB Madsoc celebrate their 30th anniversary this year with a concert on March 1st in the National Concert Hall, with a full orchestra under the baton of Gay Kirwan.
